Drew Tuma

The Blizzard of 1996. That's when the weather bug bit him. 40 inches of snow from a single storm. That was almost unheard of in the suburbs of Philadelphia where he grew up. He wanted to know how, why and would it happen again?

Drew's passion for weather was natural for him. He always had a love for math and science (yes he was in the weather club in high school and yes he is still a huge nerd at heart). He graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. His first on-air experience was in college, PCN-TV, a local cable channel. The experience was great, but he can't help but laugh when looking back at those early days.

He started his career at WHSV TV3 Winchester in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia as the Chief Meteorologist. It was here he received the prestigious AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorology seal. Shortly after, he landed a job at WTTG-TV in Washington, D.C. He's covered all different types of weather events while working in the Mid-Atlantic. From Hurricane Sandy coming ashore, to the June 2012 Derecho, to the devastating Tornado Outbreak in 2011 and the numerous crippling East Coast blizzards. He's traded the snow for sunshine (and some fog!) and is excited to call the Bay Area his home!

He feels lucky every day. He turned his hobby into a career so it never feels like he's working. In his down time he enjoys cooking, running, spending time with family and traveling. He lives in San Francisco with his husband Joey....and if you want to ever talk about McDonald's, Drew is your guy!
